Has Entourage run its course?

My friend Kevin asked me the other day: If you are a fat comedian, could you remain funny to people if lose a ton of weight?
I would have to say no. Can you imagine if Laurel and Hardy were two skinny guys? What If Curly from the Three Stoogies was skinny or Norm from Cheers? Can you even fathom a skinny Newman from Seinfeld?
What if Chris Farley was skinny?
Let’s face it - Fat is Funny.
Again, fat is funny.
My friend Bunndini always refers back to the great days of Saturday Night Live when his favorite fat comedian graced the stage – Horatio Sanz. Can you imagine him being skinny? BJ Bunnini is also a big Louis Anderson, Frank Caliendo and George Lopez fan, so he knows a thing or two about funny fat people.

Again, fat is funny.
A skinny streaker is not funny (okay it is still funny, but not as funny as a fat guy streaking.)
There is a point to all of this: Have you seen Turtle on Entourage? It looks like his giant head is transposed onto skinny body. His body must have lost 30-50 pounds, but his face and head didn’t lose a single ounce.
I know I wrote a similar article about last season, but I watched the first two episodes of the current season and I have to tell you, I was majorly disappointed.
I am praying it picks up. So far Ari’s ego has risen to unimaginable heights, he seems too pretentious and self-glamorizing; Lloyd is no wear to be found (and he is a funny gay guy).
The two shows seem to center around Vince and you know what? He is the worst part of the show. I know the show is about him, but I want to see how he spends his spare time, banging hot chicks, vacationing, banging more hot chicks.
I know I have talked about this before, but I don’t need to see his internal struggles. I use this half hour to escape that. Shit we all have that; I don’t need to be thinking about it when I am watching television.
I really hope it gets better and I have a feeling it will redeem itself and even if it doesn’t it will still be the darling of the media and the award shows. It is cleverly writing and directed; I just need a little more.
This is the one show I really look forward to, so I have high expectations.
Right now, Entourage is exactly like a fat comedian turned skinny. It just hasn’t been that funny.
I do like Scott Caan’s character. I always wondered why he hasn’t become bigger in Hollywood. I think he is hysterical.
The first thing the people running Entourage need to do?
1) Give Lloyd a bigger role.
2) Put Sloan on as much as possible, she is SMOKING hot.
3) Temper down the Ari Gold is king stuff. I love Ari but I can only take so much of someone blowing themselves (unless I do it).
4) Do something about Ari’s toupee. It looks ridiculous. It is like he is wearing a skinned groundhog on his head. Maybe he should just start wearing hats or something.
5) Either deflate some of the air in Turtle’s head or make him put on another 15-20 pounds.
That should about do it for Walt, who is handsomely awesome and the king of East Norriton. When I took over this blog, I didn’t realize it meant doing everyone else’s job (whatever that means.)
PS – Can anyone think of an instance when a fat comedian turned skinny and remained really funny? I hope Seth Rogan is reading this, because he needs to put some weight back on as well. Or for any fat kid out there that is hoping to make it in Hollywood, either stay true to your fatness and embrace it or lose the weight before you start down that path.

Agreed - Less turtle and more Sloan. Easily the hottest babe on TV now.
I hope the course gets a little more back to it's roots but still entertaining.
I agree with more Lloyd, less of Ari's ego (unless they're setting him up for a big fall) and no more of Ari's wife. I want a boulder to fall from the sky whenever she nags him. Turtle was never funny, fat or skinny. What's funny is how people play off of him. He's a mope. More Johnny Drama and his neurosis. Drama is by far my favorite of the 4 friends. Vince was always just there getting baked and getting banged. Sloan is hot, but the show seems to be more interesting when they are all single. I guess though, like life everybody and their boys are never all single at the same time. Shauna cracks me up too... I was just thinking last night the real world is creeping into my escape Entourage time too. I wish I had one afternoon of a spending spree that these guys live their life around...
Agreed, but for the love of Johnny Drama, get a new editor!
Your editor is super awesome so dont sweat it. I would punch everyone of those comedians in the face. Haratio Sans might be my real father though so I wouldnt hit him. My good dear friend Brick Recklemeyer explained to me last September that when a fat funny person gets skinny they lose their funny because they dont even know how to be skinny.
I don't watch the show but I know Jeremy Piven has taken home Emmys and Golden Globes for his character's portrayal. I was surprised to learn the show is based around Mark Walhberg's life.
P.S. Your random thoughts truly crack me up:
"Why isn't 11 pronounced onety one?"
That's a pretty good question I think.

Another good story - very funny. For the record, not all fat people are funny- some are comic book store owners
