McNabb Era is Officially Over

Pretty crazy little Easter nugget: Donovan McNabb traded to the Washington Redskins.  I am still unsure how I feel about this.

I do know one feeling – weird.  Why would they trade him within the division?  I have been hearing that Andy Reid was helping McNabb out by not trading him to the Oakland Raiders and that McNabb preferred the Redskins.

No Shit!

Who the freak wants to play for the corpse of Al Davis?  That team is putrid.

But let me get this straight; the biggest fan favorite, Brian Dawkins (and a guaranteed Future Hall of Famer and the best locker room presence on the planet) the Eagles just let casually leave for Denver while throwing him a lowball offer.

Brian Westbrook was due a large salary this year.  He has been the Eagles most exciting player for the past five plus years.  Instead of offering to redo his contract and talk about taking on a diminishing role in the organization, the Eagles just release him.

Now all of the sudden the Eagles get a fucking conscious and trade McNabb to the spot where he wants to go?

That makes no sense at all.

I know it is a business and the two previous moves were business decisions but this franchise continues to shoot itself in the foot.

What if McNabb takes the Redskins to the playoffs and the Eagles finish 5-11 and the Eagles lose to the Redskins twice?

I know the fans here wanted some change.  (Some were more vocal than others.)  It is a shame that the true Eagles fan base is represented by a bunch of whiney fucks!

I keep seeing the tool bag, Shoulder Pad Sean, booing McNabb on draft day airing on ESPN.  Listen Sean, you are forty years old and you paint your fucking face on Sundays – that doesn’t make you more of a fan than me.  It makes you a fucking idiot.

It is these retards that give this city’s fan base such a bad name.  They call in to the talk shows and babble on about God knows what and they have trouble forming proper sentences.

“Me Sean no like McNabb.  He go away and me happy. Me Face Paint now”.

Most of us fans appreciated Donovan McNabb.  That is not to say we were not frustrated by the finishes; but McNabb is a winner, plain and simple.  You knew what you were getting with him:  4-5 really good games, 2-3 complete stinkers, 48 foot passes, 7-8 jaw dropping plays and the annual playoff appearance.  That is tough to give up.

He is the most prolific quarterback in Eagles history.  This city may never have a run again like this; so I hope everyone enjoyed it.

It definitely was time to move on.  I don’t know if I am ready though.  They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  That has been the Eagles the past 11 years.  We knew they would be contenders; Number 5 just couldn’t come through in the big game.  He seems to shrink to the challenge.

That doesn’t fly in this city.  Hell, winning doesn’t fly in the city – just ask Michael Jack Schmidt.

Philadelphia is a tough place to play.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Doc Halladay gets booed at a home game this year.

I will say this about the whole McNabb thing - someone owes me an apology.  I invested a lot of emotions over the past 11 years and this franchise fell short of my expectations.

I don’t know who should give it to me – McNabb, Reid, the beer lady, the ultimate dork – Joe Banner, Mrs. McNabb, TO, Jon Gruden, Jake Delhomme, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner (two apologies), Hahndog’s fanny pack, The 6AM tailgate organizer, KFC or the pickle juice of 2000.

Someone owes Walt a hug and a sorry and I am Goddamn certain to collect.

On a side note:  Kevin Kolb better get off to a good start or he will be the most hated person in the city by October.   I hope he is watching a ton of tape and throwing mad routes to DeSean Jackson.

The Eagles can and will compete this year, it is just different.  I have a weird feeling the Eagles are going to move up high in the draft and snatch up Eric Berry or Earl Thomas and luck out and get Mount Cody in the second round.

Their defense will be stacked after this draft.  (I have a feeling I will be buying a Cody Jersey later this month.) It is like looking in the mirror.

Go Birds!  Way to knock Doc Halladay and the Phils onto page two of the sports page today!  You crafty little bastards!

I will miss McNabb but as the days go on i realize it's not a bad thing. Be nice to have one more year with him and the great offense, but because of contracts, etc - they had to move him. No choice or they had to have him for years and this town would of exploded. Kobb is atleast mentally ready and i think the young dudes want him over corny McNabb. McNabb was the Best Eagle QB ever and the haters may see what it's like to lose, but hopefully with all these picks they can stay on top. If not - Andy is next.

Wow, I haven't been paying attention at all. The Iggles also got rid of Westbrook? Don't be surprised if they trade DeSean Jackson next or Jeremy Maclin. What boneheads.

The beer lady did nothing wrong. I can't wait to see her at the Phillies games this summer.

I can't wait to see all the Facebook posts on Sundays this fall. All of these fools who were wanting McNabb gone last year and brought it up every single chance they could. It drove me nuts! He is a very solid quarterback and most Philadelphia fans never gave him credit for what he accomplished for the team. I really think the Eagles are in for a few rough years but I guess time will tell. I do feel it was definitely a mistake trading him within the division. He is going to come back and crush the Eagles this year!! Probably twice!! I really wish Cleveland would have gotten him. He may be corny but he is a good guy and a solid QB!!

Kim, most Eagles fans appreciated McNabb you only hear the disgruntled fans in the media and they are a small percentage. It is unfortunate but true.

Good blog! Its so true and unfortunate that iggles fans become associated with the likes of a pathetic loser that wears shoulder pads from his jv football playing days. I know all those that booed dnabb were kissing his arse when the eagles made it to the Superbowl. I hope dnabb whips the eagles this year just so we can hear some very pathetic fans cry.

Thanks Don for 11 great years. I remember when we sucked and we never sucked when you were here. I truly hope we do not see Bobby Hoying 2.0 when Kolb takes the helm. All signs point to Kolb being better for the younger guys. He doesnt dance around like McNabb but he also has only played a few games that meant anything. I dont care about the division trade. Yes we will see him twice but he is coming wiht the Redskins. It will take Shanahan a few years to get McNabb the line he needs and it will also take a bit to get them some receivers and a strong running game that McNabb has always needed to succeed. Good luck Don and Kevin. We need to worry about our defense now and I think the rest will fall into place. Kolb will be fine because of our offensive weapons. Anyone can throw to a wide open receiver.....

I have no idea what this post is about. It might as well be written in Chinese, as far as I'm concerned. I thought Donovan was a folk singer from the 60s. I had no idea he played football. Boy, the times really are a changing.

Conscious = conscience. Please get a new editor.
