Monday Afternoon Quarterback

Euro Football Girls are hotter

What a glorious day in the Waltdog’s world of sports.

1)      The Waltdog clinched the final spot in his fantasy football league by
crushing his hapless opponent
this week.  Walt is the reigning world champ of his 10 person keeper league with individual defensive players.  The chance of me repeating increases now and my name will most likely be back on the trophy that has been placed in between wifesense and I while we  sleep.

2)      College Football is a complete joke.  I am very happy for Mark Ingram for winning the Heisman Trophy, he was a very deserving player, but the simple fact that only one (maybe two) players in the history of the award has come from the defensive side of the ball is a complete joke.  The fact that this award ignores one whole side of a game is a complete travesty, almost like having the retarded media select the national championship instead of having the championship decided on the field with a true playoff system.

I didn't do it!The reason that Cincinnati or TCU are not playing in the national championship game is because they were either unranked coming into the season or rank really low.  How the hell can you rank teams before the season even starts?  That is a joke.  I also heard Robert Smith and some other dude try and explain that the current system works.  Smith even said, “People are always willing to spend other people’s money.”  No, the NCAA is spending OUR money Robert and the fans should have a say in how THEY spend it.  It is the fan’s that travel for the bowl games and buy tickets to the home games, spending money on lodging and concessions.  The other dude talked about how a playoff system would add 3 or 4 more games to the players’ schedule, disqualifying the notion of them being amateur athletes.  Are you for real?  Doesn’t college baseball play like 50 games?  That is insane thinking.  Plus most of these players are getting a free education at phenomenal academic institutions (not that they take advantage of it, but it is an option to them).  So that is just nuts, there needs to be a playoff system, it is a joke otherwise.

3)      How awesome was it that the Dallas Cowboys lost AGAIN yesterday?

My panties are wet!

They really do suck this time of year.  I was so excited to read their interviews about their pension for choking in December.  That has to drive them crazy, and I love it!  Their fans are complete frauds.  The fans come out in full force in September and October but are conveniently hard to find come December.  Crickets…  I love seeing them crumble right before our eyes.  There is no better feeling.

4)      How about those Temple Owls?

This team is getting hot

Whooping up on poor Villanova like that.  Temple should have beaten another top 25 team, Georgetown, a few weeks ago as well.  The play Seton Hall next and I have a feeling they will beat them too.  They may actually win the Big East by default.  They get top ranked Kansas in Philadelphia too.  They beat Kansas and they already punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament.  Don’t count these guys out.  They are better than people are giving them credit for and are a fringe top 25 team that will do damage in the Atlantic 10 this year; winning between 20-25 games, mark it down.

5)      The Eagles won a wild one last night.

The Dagger! .. Get use to this

I really hate Sunday night and Monday night games.  I am freaking exhausted today.  I went to bed last night with my heart beating 1,000 times per minutes.  I considered waking up wifesense and challenging her to a no holds barred wrestling match, then I reconsidered.  It would have been embarrassing when I lost and I didn’t feel like making that much Jell-O, it was late.   Back to the game though, it was crazy.  Back and forth, forth and back, what a game!  The Eagles defense was PATHETIC!

Quintin Mikell stole a paycheck last night.  He really played the worst game of his career.  Three penalties and about 48 missed tackles.  I also have something to say about Sean Jones.  On the long touchdown play by Dominic Hixon, Will Weatherspoon tried to stripe the ball from his grasped and missed horribly.  Then Hixon ‘ran’ into Sean Jones.  I don’t even think Sean Jones tried to tackle him. I saw him reach out and tap Hixon on the shoulder and ask him to slow down and turn around to allow Sean Jones to tackle him.  Hixon must not have heard him.  After that debacle, I saw Sean Jones on the side line trying to pump up his defensive helpers.  How could they take him seriously?  If I were his teammate, I would’ve made him walk home after that play.  How can you try and pump me up, when you are obviously afraid to even tackle somebody?  Let’s just sum it up by saying I am not a huge Sean Jones fan today.

Fire Andy Reid! Fire Donovan! Put in AJ FEELY!

6)      Eagles’ fans are a joke.  I heard about 15 people call into 610 WIP this morning and talk about how they are back on the Eagles bandwagon now.  Seriously?  You are finally back on the bandwagon.  That is crazy.  The fans here are so freaking ungrateful for the Reid/McNabb era and it drives me crazy.  This freaking happens every year here too, same conversations about how the stupid fans want change, the Eagles suck early on, they want Reid fired and McNabb traded, the Eagles get hot in December (when it matters most) and the Eagles fans return in full force.  It is so exhausting.  National Pundits always talk about how passionate and knowledgeable the fans are here; I agree with the passion, I just don’t see the knowledge.  These guys are surrounded by the fans I encounter.  It is a joke here.  I am freaking sick of it.

There is nothing better then seeing the Cowboys falter and the Birds heat up. Now, we can just pray that Andy goes into the playoffs and wins a few. No one expects a Superbowl this year, but they have to do it within the next few years. All these eagles fans who can't realize the coach just rebuilt the team (along with banner) are idiots !

Toby Gerhart got screwed. And I'm not just saying that because he's from my HS alma mater and I graduated with his dad. He really should've gotten the award.

I am not in sports heaven after watching my Cardinals play like complete tools tonight against the Niners. I don't understand this team at all. Dominate the Vikings one week and then look like garbage next week. If your Eagles do their job next week by beating San Fran then the Cards will clinch but I was hoping they would have done it the right way by winning tonight.
The BCS is a joke and hopefully one day we will have a playoff system. Congrats on FFL. I lost in the last week to get knocked out of the playoffs. And that was a nice win by Temple.

I know I'm not the first guy to whine about it -- I'm at least the second after you -- but when is everybody going to wise up and start having a national college football championship playoff like the NFL? Drives me nuts that they don't. Makes no sense. Sports demand a champion!

The BCS is as stupid as home field advantage in baseball for the league that wins the All Star game. Next year they are just going to pick out of a hat or have the bands play Tequila and whoever plays it the best that school is the national champ. I hear Temple has some mean flute players so watch out for them next year.

Andy Reid and Super 5 are the best we have ever had and will be the best for a long time to come. The offices commitment to Reid and McNabb has also been suspect just like the fan base so its not just us. If they were truly committed to winning a super bowl right now then they would have never drafted Kevin Colb. They were setting the table for the future with that pick. He is a bust but they realized Don is capable and they got him som more weapons. They have 3 years to win a super bowl. They have the weapons and need to fill a few spots but in this league anything is possible. My Bengals are in the playoffs.
